Notre Histoire / Our Story

From the heart of Pubnico to your family table.

For four generations, the D’Eon family has been the keeper of a proud Acadian tradition. Born in the Acadian coastal village of Lower West Pubnico, our bakery is built on the recipes of our ancestors—and we’re famous for our Râpure (Rappie Pie).

We believe in doing things the right way, not the easy way. That means using premium PEI potatoes and slow-simmered stocks to create the comfort food we all grew up on. Today, we bring the taste of the Par-en-Bas to grocery stores across Nova Scotia.

Real food. Real history. Still family-owned.

Our family history is woven into the very soil of Pubnico. To see the original maps and stories of the D’Eon ancestors who settled the Par-en-Bas, visit our neighbors at the Musée des Acadiens des Pubnicos.

Coming for a visit? Beyond the bakery, there is an entire coastline of Acadian culture to discover. Experience the warmth, history, and beauty of our region at Yarmouth & Acadian Shores.

To see the spirit of our ancestors in action, visit Le Village historique acadien. Located just down the road from our bakery, this living history museum showcases the heart and culture of the early 1900s Acadian life that inspired our recipes.

Ready-to-Serve and Homemade Rappie Pie (Râpure)

Rappie pie is a labor of love, but D’Eon’s Bakery makes it easy. You can find their ready-to-heat trays in grocery stores across the province, or grab a bag of their potato mix if you want the home-cooked taste without the ‘hard work’ part.

48 Hours in the Making

The Secret is in the Squeeze

You can’t rush a Râpure.

The Grate

It starts with patates râpées—premium PEI potatoes grated down to the perfect consistency.

The Squeeze

This is the hard part. We press out the moisture until we’re left with the “pulp”—the heart of the pie.

A traditional tall kitchen pot with a few rising steam lines to represent the piping-hot savory stock.

The Scald

We add our slow-simmered, savory stock while it’s piping hot to create that signature texture.

The Bake

Into the oven until the bottom is firm and the crust is a perfect, crispy gold.

À Table!

Real comfort. Like it used to be.

In Pubnico, we don’t just cook; we care for people. Our prepared meals are “comme chez nous”—made with the same ingredients and heart you’ll find in any Acadian kitchen. These are the recipes we were raised on. So you can have that Sunday-dinner feeling any night of the week.
